Ilantanov is from the Bukharian community. He is principal of the Beit Yosef Talmud Torah in Holon and rabbi of the Beit Asher VeMordechai synagogue in the Kiryat Shalom neighbourhood of Tel Aviv, and he sits on a beit hora'ah.
