Who they are
Bakr Awawdeh is a Balad activist from Kafr Kanna. He led the Galilee Society, an Arab public-health and research organisation, from 2009 to 2019, after working as an organisational and strategic consultant.
He has also served on Kafr Kanna’s council, as director of the Center Against Racism and as head of the education department at Ilut local authority. He lives in Kafr Kanna.

Crime and violence: In June 2026, proposed stronger community organisations to confront violence and crime and defend Arab citizens’ rights and identity.
Community organisation: In June 2026, proposed local and national unions for health workers, teachers, technology workers, students, drivers and business owners.
Public health: In an interview published in May 2023, called for a comprehensive health programme with measurable targets, involving local councils, civic organisations and Arab professionals.
Jewish-Arab cooperation: In an interview published in May 2023, backed joint scientific and environmental work to improve health and economic development for all Galilee residents.
